February 28th, President Obama speaks to the United Auto Workers Union… and it’s ON!
All I can really say about this is boy howdy, I bet Mitt Romney is searching for new speech coaches. I’d recommend some logic professors, too, because using that is pretty much all Obama needs to shoot down everything Republicans have been throwing around lately: good logic and common sense.
Like, for instance, who really is the “party of values” when it **really** comes down to it? Democrats: time to follow your leader and start fighting and calling people out on the hypocrisy as well – you might just win your seats back.
Think the UAW has his back?
When you watch this speech (or any Obama speech, interview, comment, etc.) it’s exceedingly difficult not to get the impression that Barack Obama is the President who is running for a second term, and the Republicans are a gaggle of sixth graders running for their first student council.
Romney (heretofore referred to as “The Stumbler”) has not had a good week.
Who else on the planet besides Willard Mitt Romney would attempt to “connect” with NASCAR Nation by mentioning that, while he’s not that into it, he has lots of friends who OWN NASCAR teams…
…. say it with me now, “The Stumbler!” (you have to say it in sort of a deep voice – a bit raspy, like you’re introducing a cross between a WWF wrestler from the 80’s and a comic book side-kick villain who rides a tricycle).
And the Republican “front-runner” speech a few days ago in Michigan… in a giant stadium… that was empty. All I thought about the entire time was a certain stadium in Denver that was FULL for a speech that was a wee bit more inspirational than, “All the trees are the right height”
…. all the trees are the right height….?
… say it with me now, “The Stumbler!”… ;)
And we must not forget he and his wife drive American cars…. four of them… two are Cadillacs… (that’s not all their cars, either, I think it’s fairly safe to say). Mitt: if you can’t connect that’s OK. Just stop embarrassing yourself trying. But if you can’t connect with the American people… how do you expect to do so for other people around the world? (that’s part of the gig, you know).
Alas, enough on poort Mitt. The President gave a great speech. UAW is behind him, and good luck with that whole running for student council thing, Republicans.
