Am I the only liberal who for the first time (in a long time) finds himself agreeing with people in Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky and Texas? (Among others… last I heard people in all 50 states have started these ridiculous secession petitions.)
But as long as we’re being ridiculous… I wanna play, too: let them go. HELP them go!
People living Alabama (or Texas, or wherever) who want their state to secede… they don’t have to be the only petitioners to support the cause… people from other states can sign petitions as well… to allow, assist, and facilitate Alabama (or Texas, or wherever) to secede as well. Let’s help our fellow countrymen one last time – it’ll be like a final kiss after a amicable break up. Friendly and without anger, but more than willing to help them carry their sh*t right out the door into the cold night.
If you like president Obama, if you think that government can do good in a nation, if you think that it’s down right blasphemous against moral and common sense that states who take in more money than they give back to the federal government are the ones who are crying for secession… sign the secession petitions to help those who hate the fact the time moves forward leave the Union. It’s a free world, let them run away with their backpacks and favorite stuffed animal tucked under their right arms. It might be the only way to slap some sense into the remaining haters of reality, truth, and… reality… (it just felt like “reality” needed to be mentioned more than once given the state of some pockets of this country).
And I hear the “movement” has bumper stickers! Buy them! Spread the word: Let the South quietly, politely, and without a fight secede from the United States. Please. It would do wonders for all the needed spending cuts.
Damn straight I’m signing petitions to allow those states to secede. They’re a financial burden on the United States. If they want to bite the hand that’s feeding them: it’s a free country. Let them do it.
It’s not just wacky Tea Party loyalists who are signing petitions to secede from the Union… many like me are right there with them. Let them go, give it a month or two, and they’ll all be singing famous a Rolling Stone song and begging for things like infrastructure spending and universal health care.
Allowing the insane and uneducated to secede might finally be the threshold that they need to cross in order to realize that all of the paranoid propaganda they’ve been buying is bunk and damaging to how we live. (Atlanta’s summit on “Agenda 21” … a UN Plot to take over the world… and “Obama’s Mind Control” has been a particularly entertaining addition to the craziness…)
LET THEM SECEDE. Help them secede. Seriously. Let’s get our heads together and figure out how to make that happen in a safe and organized manner. It’s an educational experience. A teaching opportunity.
To learn how to swim we throw kids into the pool. To teach the value of a strong and caring-about-the-future sort of federal government – we gotta throw them OUT of the pool. Give them what their tantrums demand so they learn through loss.
Honestly… it might very well be the ONLY way for people who HATE the idea of a federal government to truly understand all the things that it does for them.
Let ’em go. (… and good riddance… until they learn to catch up to the current calendar date, accept the idea that time progresses forward, and that things actually change… and that all those things are NOT conspiracies brought by the secret aliens controlling the UN and who are trying to take over the world… or is that Scientology, I get them mixed up sometimes…)
Democrats, liberals, progressives, whatever you want to call yourselves: help the South learn: help them secede from the United States of Ameria. They’ll come back – like a three-year old who threw a tantrum and decided to run away… then walked around the block… got scared… realized all the good things he once had and clearly did NOT understand… and then came knock, knock, knocking on the door to be let back inside.
Let. Them. Go. It’s no different than teaching uncontrollable children.
