Obama said if he’s fortunate enough to win a second term, his re-election will send a message to Republicans that Americans want them to follow his strategies, and that includes aiding the economy by spending on education and roads and bridges.
This is the political message that’s been needed, and it’s the one that’s important for congressional races to be exploiting as well: Obama winning his re-election is a clear message to Congress to get its act together. For two possible reasons: 1) because the country wants the go the direction that Obama has been trying to, but Congress has blocked an every single turn, and 2) even if we don’t like Obama, at least SOMETHING can get done in Washington again by cleansing it of the balderdash obstructionism that the Tea Party has ushered into the bowels of Congress.
But it’s not enough. Democrats running for Congress need to get over their old, tired, pointless campaign messaging and use this message as well.
There are a lot of congressional races that are being down-right stupid in their bid on the democratic side. The messaging they’re using in commercials is pointless, trite, and nothing more than a waste of campaign dollars.
Extending that message by the president is also important for democrats who are seeking re-election, or to win a new seat in Congress as possibly the Senate.
I live in a district in CA where the two candidates are arguing about who has paid their taxes and who hasn’t – THAT’S what their campaigns have boiled down to – who owns a private plane or not and who pays taxes... really!?!?!??! A cookie-cutter campaign strategy of the presidential race from 2 months ago? Honestly, you could paste in Romney and Obama faces and it would be the same thing.
It might be the worse messaging I’ve ever seen by a democrat trying win re-election. So and so hasn’t paid his taxes..? Honestly, with all the other options you can use THAT’S the best they can do to try and win a congressional race? Pathetic.
To the democrats: EXPLOIT this message: Congress is a mess because of the Tea Party republicans, and the establish republicans who cannot control them. If all you do is vote Obama, then the economy will continue to be in the tank (remember debt ceiling “debates”?).
The country doesn’t want or need a single additional republican in Washington to block the vote and block progress – we need FEWER republicans so that the garbage filters can get unclogged and the real politicians might get something happening again.
Voting Obama is NOT enough, you have to get the Tea Party out of Congress so that the reasonable republicans that are left in the party can at least try to work with the democrats again.
Washington is supposed to get things done. That’s it. Politicians are not rock stars. Their job is to compromise and find solutions. If Americans don’t send that message in the strongest possible way, which is by getting RID of the tea party in Congress, then it will continue to be a stagnate mess reeking of ideological pond scum.
Get it? Got it? Good.
For citizens: If you can vote early, go do it. If not, wake up early on Nov. 6th and get in line because it’s going to be a long wait thanks to the Republicans trying to restrict voting in key states as much as possible.
For democrats running for a national seat: get over the dumb-ass messaging. You’re not running for president and shouldn’t be talking about taxes or airplanes or character flaws: you’re running for one reason: get Washington moving again, and the ONLY way to do that is to get rid of the Tea Party and those who have bowed down to it.
