In a speech striking a similar tone and character of the historic address given by former President Theodore Roosevelt in the same Kansas town more than 100 years ago, President Obama called for policies he insists will benefit ordinary Americans – the 99% – having a tough time remembering let along realizing the American Dream.
We have a choice: do we start being the country that we are meant to be, or do we continue to allow policy and politics to favor only the extremely wealthy.
Do we value Democracy and our country… value the American People… or do we just value making money at all costs. What kind of country are we, and what kind of country will we be?
Get aware from the specifics for a second: take away arguments about tax cuts or tax hikes, take away religious beliefs, take away organizations and corporations – what kind of country do you want to be? One that tires to build up its entire population, or one that does not. A country isn’t a country if it ignores its people, which is exactly what we’ve been doing. What kind of country do you want to be?
America… it’s our choice. Let’s make the right one.
