Let’s face it, Republican Party: it’s time to hang up the spurs on Mitt Romney. When normalcy has become “Mitt the Twitt”, and “Mitt Happens”, I think it’s best to start pointing those hundreds of millions of dollars into keeping control of Congress.
I saw someone on TV today say,
“There are people who worked to get George W. Bush into office who are questioning Mitt Romney’s competency.”
Liberals chuckle at that, and die hard republicans probably don’t get it (there’s that whole sarcasm issue again). When you reach that stage, it’s over. And that’s OK. You tried.
But here’s what’s important: You hate President Obama. I get that. Hate away, it’s your right as an American and human being.
However, think clearly on this: there is no way in any model of reality (or politics) that Mitt Romney could be a two-term president. Never.
You know it in your heart, which is one of many reasons why republicans have not been able to embrace Mitt Romney. Mitt is incapable of winning an election based on his record, let alone a second term.
Who do you think Democrats would run to inspire their base against an Incumbent Mitt Romney in 2016…? Think really hard. Someone who contrasts him in every way…. Republicans: you will have no chance of winning in 2016 if you vote Mitt Romney into office. Are you playing chess or yard darts?
If you vote in Mitt now, Hillary Clinton will be the likely President, for two-terms, thereafter. From what I gather y’all don’t like that prospect much either. NOT voting for Mitt Romney in 2012, at least gives you a fighting chance to win in 2016.
For those voters who hate Obama and are barely even luke warm towards Romney: what’s your long term plan?
Keep Obama in office, and you have a MUCH better chance at having 8 years of a white house with someone that you DO like starting in 2016. Stay angry and vote Against Obama (rather than for Romney), and I guarantee you Romney will lose his second term, leaving most likely 8 more years of a Democrat in the white house and most likely a Democrat controlled Congress. Take a step back from how much you dislike Obama and think about it: you know that’s true.
The Liberals, Middle-of-the-roads, Independents, and socially liberal Republicans will backlash against a Mitt Romney presidency. The man cannot take a stand on anything… other than refusing to give more than one year’s worth of tax returns – that’s the only thing for which he’s shown a backbone. He also has an uncanny ability to insult virtually everyone he sits down to have a conversation with. How do you think that will look after 4 years?
So if you vote AGAINST Obama, get 4 years of Mitt, which then makes everyone left of the extreme right angry, then next election Democrats win BOTH the Whitehouse and Congress in 2016.
As a democrat I like that idea, but I dislike the idea of lies in campaigns, bigotry, and a billion dollars winning an Republican an oval office more.
That leaves the decision to Republicans: you hate Obama… but do you hate him THAT much? Take some time to think about it before you pull that lever in the voting booth.
