W. Mitt Romney is taking the Limo Tour of Europe without any real purpose… as usual Mitt Romney has no substance.
Elections are about choices. So, too, are how politicians decide to show what they’re made of.
When presidential hopefuls take their first trip overseas as either their party’s nominee or presumptive nominee, where they go, how the behave, and what they do are monumentally important. It shows us what they think is important. It shows us how they will represent the US as its commander in chief, and it shows us what sort of challenges, and how seriously they take working with the rest of the world and realizing that our economy, our environment, and our security are not limited by borders anymore.
In July 2008, then Senator Obama did his Tour of EU and the Middle East:
Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, the West Bank, Israel, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. During the course of this trip he met with assorted international leaders, including President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki of Iraq, King Abdullah II of Jordan,Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Prime Minister of Israel Ehud Olmert, Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, President Nicolas Sarkozy of France,[21] and Prime Minister Gordon Brown of the United Kingdom, as well as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Conservative opposition leader David Cameron. (from wikipedia)
Mitt Romney, on the other hand, at the exact same period of his own presidential campaign is going to:
United Kingdom, Israel, and Poland…. that’s it.
And thus far… after just his first stop, Mitt has managed to generally piss of an entire country who now recognize him, generally, as a tosser.
What exactly does that tell us about Mitt’s foreign policy… his intelligence? His prowess and how savvy he is with global politics? The UK (during the Olympics, and the IOC invited him to be there, so he basically had to go… plus it’s the UK. It’s both easy and basically mandatory…. well… it should be easy…). Then Isreal, which is also mandatory, and… Poland.
Poland..?
I don’t have anything against Poland, but… why? What’s so pressing in Poland that the Republican nominee for president should put that on is rather weak, 3-country EU coming out party? I see it as Romney is just doing it like he’s a high school kid volunteering to pad his college application.
He doesn’t care, and more importantly: Mitt Romney does not UNDERSTAND the importance of who is the President of the United States to the rest of the world. Someone with that much power, particularly with the millitary when we have a history of invading other countries… it’s really important to the entire world who has that power. Sure, other countries don’t vote for the US President, but this is politics, Mitt, they have to at least feel comfortable you’re not going to bomb them, insult them, and work with them to find solutions to global problems that require all countries to participate.
But as usual: Mitt Romney has no substance. UK, Israel, and Poland. Just try not to embarrass the US any more than you already have, OK? We’d really appreciate it.
