President Trump is no longer his own brand: he is the mascot of Russian political sabotage.
“NO COLLUSION!” Trump once again tweets…
Following Mueller’s latest indictment pinpointing 13 Russians and 3 Russian companies, Trump has thrice claimed vindication by omission. (And, of course, blames Obama.)
This time, President Trump has taken his monthly Mar-a-Lago tweet-denial a step further by citing specific parts of the indictment: the Russian plot began before he announced his candidacy, and a Facebook official said the purpose of the Russian shadow social media campaign is to, “sow discord in the U.S. political system.”
What our American President fails to understand is that he is the discord Russia has sowed. Donald Trump is the lovechild of Putin and Humanity’s inability to separate fact from fiction when presented in a Twitter feed.
Donald J. Trump is a person. President Trump is a Russian idea turned solid (or at least blubbery).
President Trump is the flagship product of Russia’s election meddling that continues to exploit the devolving of Humanity caused by social media. He is small words in ALL CAPS: he is insecurity compensating for inadequacy. He is a pivot point in the downfall of human decency: he is the point in our story when the immature and vile-prone natures encouraged by social media broke through fake screen name protections and became materially witnessed. He is online promises turned real life disappointments. President Trump is a mutation of our social DNA.
Evolutionary and sociological impacts aside, what about philosophical? A possible result of the February 16th indictment is that Donald Trump might be right: there was no collusion between Trump and Russia – because how can the Result of an Effort take part in its own creation? An offspring can’t create itself. (Unless we later discover Trump is a single-celled organism – could be possible.) President Trump is a result, not a catalyst. I leave it to you to decide if he’s a chicken or an egg.
Spawning of Donald aside, ever since President Trump’s maculate conception, he has been the key cog in the Russian meddling campaign wheel. He is the bullhorn of Russia’s social media efforts to sow discord in the U.S. political system. President Trump is no longer his own brand: he is the mascot of Russian political sabotage.
But that doesn’t mean he colluded. It just means he’s… a puppet. In America, we don’t indict Pinocchio. (Note how carefully the indictment used “unwittingly”.)
Now that the Russian campaign is “official” by having its own indictment, however, the question might be: does that now make Donald Trump aware and therefore a knowing participant in its continuation? Probably not… the other thing about Pinocchio is he’s not too bright, and our justice system gives a lot of leeway to those who’ve been duped.
Nevertheless, every tweet, junior-high insult, and “Fake News!” proclamation that drips from Trump’s sometimes slurring lips are extensions of Russia’s campaign to destabilize the U.S. political system – and Americans’ trust in democracy.
Happy #NotMyPresidentDay.
And good luck.
